High-level ad hoc thematic dialogue on energy

On 9 November 2022, the European Central Bank organized a high-level ad hoc thematic dialogue on energy. The meeting was attended by Members of the ECB Governing Council and Senior ECB officials. Five experts in the field of energy and energy economics were invited, including Natalia Fabra, Head of EnergyEcoLab. The other experts were: Javier Blas (Bloomberg), Spencer Dale (BP), Amy Myers Jaffe (Tufts University Fletcher School), and Christian Zinglersen (European Union Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators).
The experts first gave short presentations that were followed by a Q&A session.
The discussion was organized around four main blocks:
– Energy crisis and energy security
– Energy transition and investment
– European gas and electricity supply in the near and medium term
– Electricity market design and government interventions
The summary of the meeting and its main conclusions can be found here
