Stefan Lamp wins best paper award for junior researcher of the German Prize in Economics

Stefan Lamp wins the first prize jointly with his co-author Andreas Gerster (University Mannheim) for the category junior researcher for his article on “Energy tax exemptions and industrial production”.

In their research, the authors analyze how an exemption for energy taxes (renewable energy levy) impacts energy usage and a larger set of economic outcomes such as sales, employment, and exports for firms in the manufacturing industry. The committee highlighted the relevance of this work in the context of creating environmentally and economically sound industrial policies.

The Joachim Herz Foundation awards it’s German Prize for Economics every two years. The prize aims at fostering interdisciplinary research in economics and incentivizes innovative research approaches. The 2022 theme is environmental economics. The main prize in the category senior researcher was awarded to Andreas Löschel (Ruhr-University Bochum).
